Special Stockholders' Meeting Disclosure
The Special Meeting of Stockholders of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (“PLDT” or the “Company”) scheduled today, September 20, 2011 at 4:00 p.m., Dusit Thani Manila, Ayala Center, Makati City, has been cancelled by the Board of Directors due to an anticipated lack of quorum. GLOBE FOREIGN OWNERSHIP:
63% OF COMMON SHARES AND 40% OF PREFERRED SHARES

There is something amiss about the pious rhetoric of Globe Telecom’s corporate communication head on being Filipino. In a recent statement regarding foreign ownership in PLDT, she simply omitted to inform the public and government that in the case of Globe Telecom approximately 63% of its dividend rich common shares are owned – well, not by Filipinos – but by foreigners. Indeed, the single biggest common shareholder of Globe is Singapore Telecom, a foreign company, which owns approximately 47.3% of Globe’s total issued and outstanding common shares. (Sept 14, 2011) Read more.

On the Issue of Radio Frequencies

Globe’s motion is basis for nullifying its Islacom acquisition – PLDT
Telecom leader PLDT has asked the National Telecommunications Commission to dismiss outright and to "expunge from the records" a last-minute motion of Globe Telecom seeking a stop to PLDT's acquisition of Digital Telecommunications Philippines Inc. PLDT and JGS extend closing date anew
Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) and JG Summit Holdings, Inc. agreed to extend anew the closing date of the transaction under the Sale and Purchase Agreement dated March 29, 2011 from July 30, 2011 to August 26, 2011. ‘Globe is seeking special privileges, not a level playing field’ – PLDT
Though it claims to be asking for a “level playing field” in the telecoms industry by opposing PLDT’s investment in Digital Telecommunications Philippines (Digitel), Globe Telecom is actually engaged in a campaign to secure for itself “special privileges” from the government, according to a senior PLDT official.
