PLDT showcases wireless solutions for Cebu business community

MANILA, Philippines, June 20, 2006 – Productivity-boosting wireless business solutions are the focus of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. during the Cebu Business Month 2006.

PLDT Corporate Business Group Head Eric R. Alberto said businesses in Cebu have yet to tap the possibilities of going wireless in improving their operations.

“We have seen significant productivity improvements from those who have taken advantage of wireless-based business solutions. And we hope to see majority of the business community in Cebu benefiting from these as well,” said Alberto.

The PLDT Group, being one of the major sponsors of Cebu Business Month 2006 organized by Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is featuring PLDT WeRoam, PLDT SWUP (Shops.work Unplugged),  Smart 3G, and Smart BizBro during the event.

Cebu Business Month 2006 is a month-long festivity showcasing different activities that will strengthen tourism and the Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry of Cebu City. CBM’s theme for this year is Invest Cebu – a call for both local and foreign investors to put up more business developments in the island of Cebu.

“Cebu knows where it is going, it is getting there, and Cebu wants you to be there,” said Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

The InTourpreneur Conference and Exhibit is the biggest event during the month-long celebration. PLDT’s relevant business applications will be featured to increase awareness of how it can boost the ICT capability of Cebu which can enhance tourism, franchising and enable SMEs to become more competitive.
