PLDT BRAINS IPSec Installation Guide
To install the PLDT IPSEC Client on your system, follow these steps. We suggest you accept the defaults unless your system administrator has instructed otherwise.
Step 1 Exit all Windows programs, and disable any antivirus software.
Step 2 Insert the PLDT IPSEC CD-ROM in your system's CD-ROM drive.
Step 3 The installer should automatically start in a few seconds, if it doesn't please follow Steps 4 and 5 , otherwise proceed to Step 6 .
Step 4 Choose Start > Run . The Run dialog box appears.
Step 5 Enter E:\ipsec.exe, where E: is your system's CD-ROM drive.
Step 6 Click OK .
Note Cisco does not allow you to install the VPN Client software from a network drive. If you attempt to do so, you receive an error message. |
The program displays the PLDT IPSEC Installation screen and InstallShield Setup window shown in Figure 2-1 .

Step 7 If the InstallShield Wizard identifies an existing version of the VPN Client, the Cisco 5000 Client, or Nortel Networks Extranet Access Client, it displays a dialog box that asks if you want to uninstall the existing client program. To continue, click Yes . The VPN Client launches the appropriate uninstall wizard: the Cisco VPN Client uninstall wizard to uninstall a previous version of the VPN Client, the Extranet Access Client wizard program, or the Cisco 5000 wizard. Follow the instructions on the uninstall wizard dialog boxes to automatically uninstall the program and reboot.
Note Having more than one VPN client on your system is not advisable.
After your system reboots, our own Cisco Systems VPN Client Setup wizard resumes.
Step 8 Follow the instructions on the screens (read and accept any agreements), and enter the following information when prompted: A destination folder for the IPSEC Client files (or click Next > to enter the default location C:\ProgramFiles\PLDT IPSEC Client\PLDT IPSEC Client).
Step 9 After you have installed the IPSEC Client, the InstallShield Wizard displays the following screen. (See Figure 2-2 .)

Select the “No, I will restart my computer later” option and then click Finish . The IPSEC Client Setup closes.
Step 10 A window will appear prompting whether you want a shortcut icon created on your computer desktop or not. Click OK to create.
Step 11 Restart your computer. The IPSEC Client requires you to restart your system for it to become usable.

A. Configuring the PLDT IPSEC Client for use
The following steps are provided to ease the use of the PLDT IPSEC Client.
Step 1 Locate the PLDT IPSEC Client shortcut icon on your computer desktop. See Figure 2-1 below.

Step 2 If a shortcut is not available, click on the Windows button. Locate and launch the PLDT IPSEC Client program. See Figure 2-2 below.

Step 3 The PLDT IPSEC Client logo screen appears and the program window is displayed. See Figure 2-3 below.

Step 4 Click on the ‘ipsec user' entry under Connection Entry.
Step 5 Click the ‘Connection Entries' item on the top menu, and select Modify from the resulting drop-down menu. See Figure 2-4 below.

Step 6 The Modify screen is displayed. Make sure the Group Authentication button is ticked, and enter the Group Name provided to you by PLDT in the Name box, and the accompanying password in the Password and Confirm Password boxes. See Figure 2-5 below.

Step 7 Click on Save . This returns you to the IPSEC Client Main Window.
Step 8 Click on the ‘Options' item on the menu bar and on the resulting drop down menu click on ‘Simple Mode'. This simplifies the look of the IPSEC Client. See Figure 2-6 below.

Step 9 Your PLDT IPSEC Client is now ready for use, please refer to the Initiating a Connection portion of this guide.
B. Initiating a Connection
Before running a connection, please ensure you have the following:
A running internet connection
The username and password to be used with this service (different from the Group Name and password provided in the last section). This would have been provided by your company system administrator or by PLDT.
Step 1 Run the IPSEC Client as instructed by Step 1 or 2 in the previous section Configuring the PLDT IPSEC Client for use .
Step 2 The PLDT IPSEC Client Window appears, make sure that the entry ‘ipsec user' is present. See Figure 2-7 below. Click the drop down arrow on the left of the Connect button to choose this entry if not already displayed.

Step 3 Click Connect.
Step 4 You will be prompted to enter your username and password to complete the connection. Enter the provided username and password.
Step 5 You are now connected to PLDT IPSEC Service.
